An Ensign Student Wins AAPHP Scholarship Award For A Second Consecutive Time

Congratulations to Victoria Partey-Newmann, recipient of the 2021 Public Health Practice Award from the Association of Accredited Public Health Program (AAPHP). Dr. Partey-Newmann is a final year Masters of Public Health (MPH) student at the Ensign College of Public Health. She is a medical doctor by training. She serves as the doctor-in-charge of the Well Woman’s Clinic at the Trust Hospital in Accra, Ghana. The Well Woman’s Clinic at the Trust Hospital is a vital part of the hospital, playing a major role in breast cancer screening, cervical cancer screening, as well as family planning and adolescent sexual education.

Dr. Partey-Newmann is passionate about women’s health and educating others on prevention and screenings. Her project is titled the “Cognizance of Cervical Cancer and its Service Delivery Practices amongst Community Health Workers at the Krobo Enclave in the Eastern Region of Ghana”. She believes that to advance women’s health in Ghana, change needs to begin from the grass-roots of the health system through a public health approach.

The AAPHP Public Health Practice Award is to support student-led public health projects. Each year the organization accepts applications from both undergraduate and graduate students from AAPHP institution members and affiliates. One scholarship ($500) is given to an undergraduate student and two scholarships ($1000 each) are awarded to support graduate student projects.
