Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa is a professor, doctor, pathologist, academic, leader, researcher, social commentator, and a “functional engineer”. He has been a Consultant Histopathologist and Clinical Director of Pathology in the UK, Professor and Head of Department of Pathology in the University of Ghana Medical School, Director General of the Ghana Health Service, President of the Ghana Medical Association and the Commonwealth Medical Association, President of the Ghana Skin Foundation, WHO Advisor on Polio Eradication in Nigeria and the WHO AFRO Task Force on Immunization, and the President of the Prempeh College Old Students Association.

Professor Akosa is currently the Executive Director of Healthy Ghana, a Professor of Pathology at the University of Ghana Medical School, the President of Phytica Ghana, and the Chairman of Express Life Insurance.

Professor Akosa is the Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of the African Population Health Research Centre, Nairobi, Kenya, and serves on the board of Safety Ghana. He has also served as the Executive Chairman of Ghana Healthcare Ltd, a board member of the Ghana Prisons Service, the Chairman of St. John Ambulance, the Chairman of the Tobacco Control Taskforce in Ghana, and the Chairman of Trust Hospital.

Professor Akosa describes himself as a systems thinker and is the author of over 60 scientific publications, abstracts, and conference monographs and over 50 socioeconomic articles in Ghana’s leading newspaper, the Daily Graphic. He is a recipient of the second highest award in Ghana, the Companion of the Order of the Volta for Public and Medical Services (CV), and is a Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Science and the Ghana Medical Association.

Professor Akosa is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, the West African College of Physicians, and the Ghana College of Physicians. Prof. Akosa is an advocate on lifestyle issues and a PATRIOT.
