Ensign Global College Student Receives Association of Accredited Public Health Programs (AAPHP) 2023 Public Health Practice Award

Congratulations to Patience Agbate, a member of Cohort Nine at Ensign Global College for receiving the 2023 Public Health Practice Award from the Association of Accredited Public Health Programs (AAPHP).

The Public Health Practice Award will provide funding for Patience’s project that explores the knowledge and experiences of early childhood educators regarding the early detection of autism spectrum disorder. Her research spans five districts in the Greater Accra Region.

In addition to her studies at Ensign Global College, Patience currently works as a public health nurse in a clinic in the Volta Region, gaining vital experience in diverse medical conditions. She serves as the facility’s coordinator for patients with HIV/TB.

The Public Health Practice Award is given each year by the Association of Accredited Public Health Programs (AAPHP) to support student-led public health projects.

Eligible projects for the award include a practicum or some other intervention, research, and/or evaluation project conducted in a mutually beneficial partnership with a community partner (defined as an educational, governmental, or non-governmental organization). Every year students from eligible AAPHP public health undergraduate and graduate programs submit applications for this prestigious and competitive honor.

Dr. Stephen Manortey, Head of Academic Program, comments, “It is always exciting when a student from our MPH program wins this prestigious award that offers support for students’ research work in the graduate program category. This recognition is a further demonstration that Ensign standards are amongst, the best. Congratulations Patient Agbate, for being the recipient of the 2023 AAPHP Public Health Practice Award. As an institution, we are indeed proud of your achievement.”

This is the fourth year in a row that an Ensign Global College student has received the AAPHP Practice Award. Since 2020, Ensign Global College students have been selected for this distinguished honor.

2020 – Henry Okorie Ugorji – Assessment of the quality of Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care,
