Alberta Agudey
Dr. Alberta Teye Agudey is a distinguished demographer and public health professional with over a decade of experience in research, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement. Her work focuses on improving the well-being of vulnerable populations through data-driven solutions, capacity building, and gender-responsive interventions. Prior to joining Ensign Global University, Dr. Agudey served as the national expert at the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) in Ghana. She contributed to Ghana’s Strengthening Border Security Project, where she oversaw monitoring and evaluation, facilitated training programs, and integrated gender equity into border management practices.
Dr. Agudey holds a PhD in Migration Studies and an MPhil in Population Studies both from the University of Ghana, where her research examined healthcare access disparities among migrants and non-migrants in Ghana and the psychosocial well-being of living with chronic non-communicable diseases. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Philosophy from the University of Ghana, blending technical expertise with critical analysis. She has a Certificate in Impact Evaluation of Policies, Programs, and Projects from the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ILO), further enhancing her ability to assess and optimize public health initiatives.
Dr. Agudey has held pivotal roles in academia, international development, and research institutions including:
ICMPD (2023–2024): As National Expert, supported regional cooperation among border agencies in Ghana, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, and Ivory Coast, ensuring gender mainstreaming and stakeholder coordination.
GOPA Worldwide Consultants (2020–2022): Led data collection, analysis, and policy advisory for the GIZ Program Migration and Diaspora, fostering collaboration between Ghanaian institutions and international consortia.
University of Ghana’s CMS and RIPS (2016–2020, 2011–2014, respectively): Contributed to projects like Migration for Inclusive African Growth (MIAG) and EDULINK II & III, analysing migration’s role in economic growth and healthcare conditions for urban poor populations.
International Centre for Research on Women (ICRW) and Arizona State University (2017–2018): Designed and led impact evaluations for women’s empowerment programs and educational initiatives, emphasizing evidence-based policy recommendations.
Dr. Agudey’s research interests include migration dynamics, non-communicable diseases, gender equity, and healthcare access, and her ongoing work addresses systemic challenges in border security and reproductive health. Her teaching areas include family and reproductive health, social and behavioural science in public health, health promotion, qualitative and quantitative research methods, social dynamics, and demographic processes at the University of Ghana and Ensign Global University, mentoring graduate students, and organizing workshops to bridge theory and practice.
Adept in advanced data analysis tools (SPSS, STATA, ATLAS.ti), Dr. Agudey combines technical proficiency with strong leadership in teaching, project management, policy advocacy, and stakeholder coordination. Her expertise in gender mainstreaming, risk assessment, and systems thinking has informed initiatives such as Ghana’s border security reforms and diaspora engagement strategies. She has facilitated training programs for institutions like GIZ-Ghana and the Ghana Immigration Service, as well as disseminated research findings to policymakers, ensuring practical applications for marginalized communities.
